TRON: Legacy offers compelling fantasy world
TRON: Legacy is a true spiritual successor to its predecessor. Anyone who loves flashy visuals, sci-fi action-adventure, and stylized glowing jumpsuits is bound to enjoy this film.
X-Men returns to arcade
For those unfamiliar with this particular title, X-Men is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game released back in 1992, featuring the titular cast of superheroes sporting their 'classic' look. After eighteen years, does the revamped X-Men still hold up in an age of twitch-fests and cinematic quality games?
Black Swan offers new perspective on ballet
Black Swan is modern day re-telling of Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet, Swan Lake. Rather than a tragically beautiful, tale of lost true love however, the film offers a frightening and at times hideous look at the obsessive, self-destructive side of classical dance.
Blue Valentine offers realistic portrayal of love
The poster for Blue Valentine is misleading. It shows Ryan Gosling’s character Dean and Michelle Williams’ Cindy in a passionate embrace, full of the hope that their burgeoning romance promises.
The Cape fails as melodrama
Looking for a superhero fix to tide you over until the Thor and Captain America movies? If you can forgive some terrible logic and occasionally cringe-inducing dialogue, NBC’s The Cape might just scratch your itch.
1/20/11: Eating Atlanta
Buford Highway continues to host Atlanta’s finest with Panahar Bangladeshi and Indian Cuisine, which is one of the best of its kind. Panahar keeps a low profile as an unassuming, unique experience into the rarely ventured cuisine and culture of Bangladesh.
Cataclysm provides needed enhancements
On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the third expansion, Cataclysm, was released and the World of Warcraft was changed forever. The expansion follows the return of the Dragon Aspect Deathwing the Destroyer, whose arrival from the elemental plane to the mortal realm caused The Shattering, which ripped Azeroth apart.

Love and Other Drugs
If Love and Other Drugs was an actual person, it would quickly be diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. The movie attempts simultaneously to be a romantic comedy, cultural commentary and quirky indie drama. While overall the movie, which is based on Jamie Reidy’s non-fiction book Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman, is enjoyable and certainly worthy of viewing, it would be more successful if it simplified its storytelling. As it is, the film feels somewhat disjointed.
Holeman and Finch
Last week my dad flew into Atlanta on a late night flight and I took the opportunity to look for a restaurant with long hours. A Google search and a few clicks later, I stumbled across glowing reviews for Holeman and Finch in Buckhead. We decided to give it a shot, and the dinner that followed still brings a smile to mouth and a little trickle of drool to my chin. If you’re looking for a night of fine dining that isn’t too formal, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
