Last weekend, the Tech men’s golf team placed first out of 14 teams in the Carpet Capital Collegiate. The Jackets shot a combined 14-under-par: eight-under on the first day, one-over on the second and seven-under on the final day of the tournament.
Junior Ollie Schniederjans not only placed first for Tech, but also tied for first overall with North Carolina’s Bailey Patrick. Schniederjans shot a 67 in both of the first to rounds, followed by a 73, to finish at nine-under-par for the tournament. Schniederjans had the lead to himself heading to the 17 hole in the final round, but double-bogeyed 17, and then bogeyed 18.
Senior Richard Werenski finished in second for Tech (2-under), followed by senior Seth Reeves (1-under), junior Anders Albertson (even-par) and senior Bo Andrews (12-over).
The Jackets will head to Chapel Hill this weekend to compete in the Tar Heel Intercollegiate.
