Junior Safety Isaiah Johnson recorded Tech’s first defensive touchdown of the year with a 22 yard interception return in the first quarter.
Redshirt junior B-back David Sims lead the Jackets rushing attack with 32 yards on 11 carries
Tech was 0-10 on third down conversions while BYU was 9 of 16 with most conversions coming with more than 5 yards to go.
Tech had 157 yards of total offense compared to the BYU’s 411 yards TURNING POINT:
With Tech down 24-14 with 5:05 left in the third quarter, redshirt senior quarterback Tevin Washington rolled right and threw an interception to Junior Daniel Sorensen who returned it inside the five, leading to a Jamaal Williams’ one yard touchdown run to make the score 31-14.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
17 year old freshman running back Jamaal Williams had 107 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on 28 carries for BYU.

PLAY OF THE GAME:

With 4:46 remaining in the second quarter and Tech trailing 21-7, redshirt freshman Safety Jamal Golden took the kickoff at his own three yard-line, switched fields and dashed 97 yards for a tochdown to cut the deficit to just seven points. Golden outran the BYU kicker and managed to juke in and out of ankle tackles on his way to the first kick-return touchdown for a Tech player since Dez White completed the feat on Halloween of 1998 against Maryland.  Golden’s sprint was completed in fifteen seconds.
