The men’s club hockey team kicked off its season with a victory over Auburn. The team scored one goal in each of the first two periods, while Auburn hung in the game scoring two in the second period. Tech closed out the victory with three goals in the final period, and allowed only two from Auburn, giving a final score of 5-4. Forward Michael McKinney had three assists and forward Ryan Fritz had two goals.
Men’s club soccer started its season off right with a dominating 10-0 victory over Clayton State this past weekend. The Jackets then traveled to play UGA and fell to the Bulldogs 3-1.
The women’s rugby team had a successful weekend with two strong victories to start off the 2012 fall season. The first match came against UGA this past weekend, and the Jackets topped the Bulldogs 22-17 in a decisive victory. Tech followed up the victory with a huge win over North Georgia with a score of 59-5.
The sailing team travelled to Tennessee to participate in a regatta this past weekend. 11 teams competed, and the Jackets were able to place second.
The water ski team has started its season with two tournaments early. Last weekend, the team participated in the GT Fall Sac Swervefest and placed in several different competitions. The team placed first overall with a score of 965.0 points, an impressive victory for so early in the season. The team also placed seventh in slalom skiing, ninth for trick, and 7th for jump to close the successful tournament for Tech.
