Crime reports from around campus.
On Jan. 22, GTPD received a report of a theft of property at the Student Center. A flat screen television was stolen from one of the rooms. The complainant stated that when he left the room at 11:30 p.m. the night before, the TV was still there. Records showed that the room had been entered at 2:30 a.m. The estimated value of the television set was approximately $500.
GTPD received an anonymous tip on the afternoon of Jan. 22 from a student about a gun lying on the ground at Means Street, behind Marietta Street. The officer found a Smith and Wesson 38 caliber Airlite hand gun at that location. Upon inspection it turned out that the gun had been stolen, and was brought from Carrollton, Georgia. The Carrollton police department advised that they would retrieve the property from GTPD.
An officer was dispatched to the Ferst Center of the Arts to investigate a report about an intoxicated person damaging a restroom.
After arriving on the scene the officer located a male subject, who stated that he was intoxicated after drinking with friends at his residence hall. The subject’s father was contacted, who came to pick him up. The subject was then released into his father’s custody.
At approximately 6:18 p.m. on Jan. 24, an officer responded to a fire alarm at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The officer determined that the system was set off due to a fault in the system, and there was no real alert in the building. Atlanta Fire Department arrived on the scene at 6:30 p.m., and was informed that there was no smoke or fire. The Facilities department was notified of the problem.
