Love and Other Drugs

If Love and Other Drugs was an actual person, it would quickly be diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. The movie attempts simultaneously to be a romantic comedy, cultural commentary and quirky indie drama. While overall the movie, which is based on Jamie Reidy’s non-fiction book Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman, is enjoyable and certainly worthy of viewing, it would be more successful if it simplified its storytelling. As it is, the film feels somewhat disjointed.

Holeman and Finch

Last week my dad flew into Atlanta on a late night flight and I took the opportunity to look for a restaurant with long hours. A Google search and a few clicks later, I stumbled across glowing reviews for Holeman and Finch in Buckhead. We decided to give it a shot, and the dinner that followed still brings a smile to mouth and a little trickle of drool to my chin. If you’re looking for a night of fine dining that isn’t too formal, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Ever since the first Assassin’s Creed game in the franchise came out in 2007, fans of the series have been pulled far into the compelling story that is full of twists and turns. Assassin’s Creed II was an excellent follow up to the award winning game, which followed a new character from a later timeline than the first game.

Skyline falls

The trailers for Skyline depicted humans being abducted into the sky by blue lights and spaceships. Based on these trailers, audiences can expect aliens, violence and plenty of high-end special effects. The actual movie provides very little else.

Calvin Harris Concert

Green and purple lasers sliced through the smoky air of the swarming Loft Atlanta on Nov. 5, setting the atmosphere for Calvin Harris’ energetic DJ set. Fans came prepared to dance until dawn at the Scottish singer/songwriter/DJ’s much anticipated high-energy show. Although Harris did not technically begin his set until the wee hours of Saturday morning, the crowd was more than warmed up by the time he began. This was thanks to the opening DJ who spun mixes of Phoenix, La Roux and other popular dance tracks.
