House has won the hearts of many viewers around America in its six seasons and has started it seventh on FOX, showing at 8 p.m. on Mondays.
The story of a drug-addicted diagnostician battling with hospital staff, solving mysteries and humoring the audience with jokes and insults has captivated audiences. The show has had its ups and downs, cast member changes and surprises throughout, but it never disappoints. This season is no different.
This time, House is back with a new partner, Lisa Cuddy. Fans were anxious at the end of last season when we saw House react very negatively towards a patient’s death due to his actions. Cuddy came to save the day by preventing him from taking Vicodin and pronoucing her love to him.
The season started out with what every fan of the show was waiting for: the aftermath of the confrontation between Cuddy and House. It was a mostly positive experience for both House and Cuddy. What you would expect from the characters on the show was present, with House making jokes and Cuddy being nurturing and motherly.
Something different was that the episode was more focused on the relationship drama, rather than the action mystery-solving aspect.
However, it didn’t leave the other cast members completely out of the picture. House’s team was back with some sticky situations of its own.
Although she is present in this first episode, Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) will be absent for much of the season because she is filming an adaptation of the graphic novel, Cowboys & Aliens.
Numerous guest stars are scheduled to appear in the new season, such as Dylan Baker (Law and Order), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo film series) and Jennifer Grey (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off).
The premiere episode was a good one. It featured much of what people are used to when they sit down for an hour with Gregory House and the team.
However, it was also different in a sense that it shifted focus from the medical drama to the relationship drama.
Hopefully they won’t lose sight of the former. Either way, I’m looking forward to the episodes to come.
