Following a 10th place finish in the NCAA Championships, the last two weeks have been an eventful time for Jacket golf. Recently graduated Cameron Tringale was named to the Ping All-American first team. He also won his fourball match in the Palmer Cup and halved his singles match. In addition, Tringale joined Tech alumnus Matt Kuchar, David Duval, and Stewart Cink when he qualified for the U.S. Open.
Tringale is among elite company with only ten golfers being named to the Ping All-American first team. This is his first selection to the first team, although he did make the second team in 2006 and 2007. He finished out the year with seven top-10 finishes including victories at the Brickyard Collegiate Tournament and the Southern Highlands Collegiate Tournament. His stroke average of 71.36 is the 12th best in Tech history and the second best in the ACC this year. In addition, on June 4 Tringale paired up with Morgan Hoffman from Oklahoma State to defeat their European opponents in the Palmer Cup. Their victory was the only United States victory in the morning session of the tournament.
