According to this year’s U.S. News and World Report, Tech ranks number seven among public universities in the United States. This is the highest ranking in the history of the university and a spot that the Institute has maintained for three consecutive years.
According to the December issue of Smart Money Magazine, Tech was rated as the third best value institution of higher education in the country, outpacing fourth-ranked University of Georgia as well as all of the schools of the Ivy League.
The Sustainable Endowments Institute has given Tech an overall grade of ‘B’ on its 2009 College Sustainability Report Card. Up a letter grade from last year, this grade moves Tech into the Campus Sustainability Leader category.
In August, The US News and World Report released their rankings for America’s Best Colleges 2009. The report has Tech ranked as the seventh best public school in the nation, tied with the University of Wisconsin – Madison and the University of California – San Diego, and as the fourth best undergraduate engineering program in the nation, tied with the California Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois – Urbana, Champain.
Tech recently received the top score of 99 in Princeton Review’s Green Rating of Colleges. In its survey of 534 colleges across the United States, the Princeton Review measured how environmentally friendly each school was during the 2007-08 academic year. After extensive surveys on subjects like recycling and energy use, eleven schools (six public) made it to the Green Rating Honor Roll.
U.S News and World Report has released their 2009 rankings of America’s Best Graduate Schools, and Tech’s College of Engineering has maintained its position as the fourth highest ranked school in the country. This year’s rankings also saw the Computer Science program make its way into the top ten for the first time.
