Tech’s men’s tennis team (3-0) remained unbeaten on the season by defeating the No. 71 University of North Florida Ospreys 4-2 on Saturday. Tech won the doubles point and three of the singles to clinch the match.

Casey Kay, playing in the five spot, cruised past North Florida’s Zachary Goldberg with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Tech’s No. 2 ranked Carlos Benito faced a tougher challenge, defeating Caio Gomes 4-6, 6-5 (8-6), 6-1. It was Nathan Rakitt’s exciting come-from-behind win, however, that sealed Tech’s win. Rakitt, in the Jackets’ top singles spot, went down to the wire with a 6-4, 5-6 (10-12), 6-5 (7-4) win over the Ospreys’ Nortbert Nemscek to lock up the fourth point for Tech on the night.

Benito and junior Eduardo Segura secured the doubles point for Tech with a 6-3 win. The pair won their third straight doubles match on the season. Rakitt and Kay dropped their doubles match in a 6-3 defeat. Sophomore Anish Sharma and freshman Cole Feigel also saw match play against the Ospreys.

The two paired together and won their doubles match 6-2. Fiegel dropped his number four singles match 3-6, 6-4, 4-6 against North Florida’s Yannick Zuern. Sharma, in the number six spot, did not get to complete his match against Pablo Tellez, where the two tied at 6-5 (7-1), 2-6, 3-3.
